2009 WHNA Membership Drive, Volunteers Needed

Our 1st Membership Drive is upon us. In order to stand up for our neighborhoods rights, we need to become stronger.

We have had a lot of members over the last few years, but we need you to rejoin or join us for the first time. Membership runs from July 1st to June 30th each year. By joining now, you are a current member until June 30, 2010.

To boost our membership we will be canvassing the neighborhood door to door for three weekends this spring.

The dates are:

* April 18th, 2-4pm
* April 25th, 10am-noon
* May 2nd, 10am-noon

Please volunteer to help us canvas the neighborhood and increase our membership.

So far we have done several things including:

* Reduced crime with the creation of neighborhood watch and increased cooperation from the Dekalb County Police Department
* Built a website and distribution list to keep you aware of the many area projects that will effect our residents

We have several things that we want to do going forward including:

* Having neighborhood events that will give members the chance to interact regularly
* Alert members to proposed zoning changes or similar government actions that will effect this neighborhood
* Ensure that an organization exists that is capable of taking swift actions when needed to protect the goals of its members

Without your involvement in this organization (on any level, from member to volunteer to board member) we will not become the community that we can be.

Sincerely,

Brad Grulke
Woodland Hills Neighborhood Association

LLCC Adopt-a-Highway Program Changes Focus for April

Title: LLCC Adopt-a-Highway Program Changes Focus for April
Description: The Lindbergh LaVista Corridor Coalition will be participating in the national "Great American Clean-Up" this year with an organized effort to pick up trash along Cheshire Bridge Road.

So with the help of Whole Foods Market-Briarcliff providing a meeting place and free lunch afterwards and our local Keep DeKalb Beautiful organization donating supplies, we hope to make this event a huge success. Now all we need are volunteers! If you're interested in helping, please contact Sarah Hailey at cleanup@lindberghlavista.org.

WHNA Membership Drive, Volunteers Needed

By WHNA president, Brad Grulke

I wanted to make you aware that we are doing our first annual membership drive this spring. Throughout the last few years we have had many people join the Woodland Hills Neighborhood Association. However, in order to make this association what it can be, we need more members and for our existing members to renew their membership.
The membership drive will run during April and May, culminating in a Neighborhood BBQ on Saturday May 16th. One of the main goals of our association is to become more of a community. Read More

Recap of Safety Meeting

By WHNA president, Brad Grulke

On March 23rd Commissioner Rader's office organized a public safety meeting to address concerns over increasing crime in the Briarcliff/LaVista area. Representatives from the Dekalb County police assured those attended that despite the recent jogger attack violent crime in the area has decreased 21% and property crime has decreased 15% according to their statistics. Because investigation into the March 17th attack is on going, police were able to offer few details. They are treating the incident as if it were a random act. Read More
