Crime alert – ADT imposter

Dear Residents,

Our friends in the Morningside neighborhood report that a man claiming to be with the ADT home security company has been canvassing Morningside homes, asking questions about homeowners' security systems. The man claims that ADT is out replacing outdated security signs and equipment.

ADT has been called and states that it does not have anything like this happening or scheduled.

Stay alert! If this individual contacts you, call 911, and report him to the police.

WHNA Crime Alert Mailbox Tampering

Dear Residents,

Thanks to our residents for passing on the following email.

" Over the last few days, we have confronted kids who are tampering with mailboxes in the neighborhood. They are in their early teens. We have observed them opening mailboxes and reviewing the contents. We're not sure if they are actually taking the mail because we immediately confront them.

The first time, on Thursday, they simply ran when they were approached. On Saturday, they became combative so we followed them and took pictures. Luckily, there was an APD car patrolling the neighborhood. The officer took immediate action, but the kids ran and were not caught."

Thanks to Perry and Mike for passing on the information.  Be sure to check the links below for more crime updates.

WHNA Crime Alert Public Safety Issuance

Dear Residents,

Alice Johnson , Community Affairs in the Office of Chief George Turner, APD forwarded the following news release from Carlos Campos, manager of the APD Public Affairs Unit to the Buckhead Council of Neighborhoods:

Buckhead Area
The Atlanta Police Department is urging women in the northeast Atlanta area to be on alert following three sex crimes/burglaries in January that followed a similar pattern.
Investigators have not definitively tied all three cases together, but there are similarities to raise concerns that they were committed by the same suspect and that he may strike again.

The APD is temporarily withholding some details of the crimes in order to protect the identities of the victims and to preserve the integrity of the investigations.
The crimes occurred between Jan. 1st and Jan. 19th on Lenox Road and Peachtree Park Drive.
The perpetrator has been described as a black male with a thin build, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, dressed all in black.
“We have seen an escalation in the crimes and are concerned it could reach an even higher level of violence,” said Maj. Keith Meadows, Major Crimes Commander for the Atlanta Police Department. “We don’t want to unnecessarily alarm the public,
