The Adopt-A-Highway program is back to its regular schedule this month with our next pick up event scheduled for Saturday, 9 May 2009 at 9:00am.
And I'm happy to announce that we have a new sponsor, ChocoLaté! Please plan to meet in front of ChocoLaté in the LaVista Walk development, which is across the street from Publix. They have graciously agreed to provide us with a full service outside of their store with fresh coffee and pastries.
So come hungry and ready to work... it's been 2 months since we cleaned up the corridor so we could really use your help!
Please email me if you plan to attend.
Thanks,
Sarah Hailey, Adopt-a-Highway Coordinator

South Fork Conservancy
Rich Sussman (from LLCC newsletter)
On Thursday evening June 18, the South Fork Conservancy will be hosting a meeting to bring the LLCC neighborhoods up to date on their efforts to link the communities adjoining the South Fork of Peachtree Creek. It is the vision of the South Fork Conservancy to protect and restore approximately 1,100 acres of greenspace by establishing a 31-mile network of connections along the creek. Some of this land is already in public ownership, including parks and sewer rights-of-way; other portions are under commercial and industrial use. Surprisingly, not a great amount is residential.

Quarterly General Assembly Meeting
The meeting was called to order by Brad Grulke at 7:30 PM.
Brad introduced Officer Obester from the Dekalb County Police Department's "Interactive Community Policing" (ICP) group.
Officer Obester provided background on the ICP. The ICP was created to get officers "back to the neighborhood and to the community". Recent ICP projects have included cleaning up the Sage Hill shopping center after an increase in property crime. The property crime was attributed to homeless people squatting under a bridge near the shopping center. The squatter's community has been cleaned up, and property crime has decreased.
PLEASE JOIN US for our next quarterly General Assembly meeting on Thursday April 16th at 7:30pm at Peachtree Baptist Church on the corner of Briarcliff and LaVista.
A lot has happened recently and we have a lot of things planned for the next few months.
The Dekalb Police Department will be there to give us information about criminal activities in our area and how to prevent crime.
Also, Nicole Marchand, from the Dekalb Solicitor's Office, will be updating us on the criminal justice process and informing us to some Crime Prevention Classes that are upcoming.
Finally, we will be giving an update on our membership drive, the I-85/GA-400 Interchange, and the revamp website.
Hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Brad Grulke
