Needs Assessment Being Conducted in DeKalb County
By CRWRC Disaster Response
January 20, 2010
The DeKalb Long Term Recovery Group (LTRG) has invited volunteers from the international relief group, Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (CRWRC). They will be in DeKalb County to help identify individuals and / or families who may need assistance in recovering from the September '09 floods. The CRWRC team will be here for two weeks beginning Monday, February 1, 2010 and ending Friday, February 12, 2010.
The DeKalb Long Term Recovery Group (LTRG) is a volunteer organization of individuals from non-profit and faith-based organizations working with local government agencies in an effort to address the unmet recovery needs of DeKalb residents.
Almost 5000 DeKalb County households registered for assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) after floods tore through parts of the county this past September.
The relief volunteers from CRWRC wear bright green shirts and have photo identification with them at all times. The "green shirts" (as they are known) are trained to assess damage and deal with the psychological after effects from this type of loss. "Needs assessment is a vital step in recovery. It helps the LTRG know who needs the help and what kind of help they need," said CRWRC Team Lead, Char Dykema.
A walk - in station will be available from February 1 through February 12 at the Northlake Church of Christ located at 1625 Cooledge Road in Tucker, GA 30084. The center will be open from 11 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday and from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday, February 6, 2010.
For further information, please call the DeKalb LTRG at 678-406-7747.

Thank you for helping keep Woodland Hills safe!
Sincerely,

The WHNA Board

Area Crime Update

Dear Residents,

I wanted to updated you that gun shots were reported fired at 3:30 AM Monday morning. The shots were heard by a Woodland Hills resident at the 2200 block of Arlington Ave. The resident reports hearing 5 rapid shots followed by a pause, one more shot, and a car speeding off. The resident called 911 and reported the shots to the police.

If you would like more information in our area, DeKalb County Police Department provides a link to a crime mapping service. The like is posted below.

Once you are on the site, you can type in a specific address at the top of the page; zoom in and out on the map to see the entire county or just our neighborhood; sort by range of dates; or click on individual reports to see types of crime. The information on this site reflects how the initial 911 call was reported. In some cases, the report may be changed to a different category or removed all together depending on the on-going or final outcome of investigation by police.

If you would like to help keep our neighborhood safe, I encourage you to join Woodland Hills Neighborhood Watch as a block captain. For more information please email me at secretary@woodlandhillsatlanta.org.

Thank you for doing your part to help keep Woodland Hills safe by not hesitating to call 911.
