Quarterly General Assembly Meeting

The meeting was called to order by Brad Grulke at 7:30 PM.

Brad introduced Officer Obester from the Dekalb County Police Department's "Interactive Community Policing" (ICP) group.

Officer Obester provided background on the ICP. The ICP was created to get officers "back to the neighborhood and to the community". Recent ICP projects have included cleaning up the Sage Hill shopping center after an increase in property crime. The property crime was attributed to homeless people squatting under a bridge near the shopping center. The squatter's community has been cleaned up, and property crime has decreased.

2 arrested as police sweep Briarcliff Road area

DeKalb County police said Sunday they are focusing “all resources” on a stretch of Briarcliff Road extending from North Druid Hills to Lavista roads, as they picked up two men in connection with recent armed robberies.

“As part of our ongoing investigation we are working to determine if they or other individuals may be linked” to three recent attacks against area women, said DeKalb Police spokeswoman Bettina Durant.

Three women have been attacked along Briarcliff in the past 26 days. The latest incident occurred early Saturday morning at the Park at Briarcliff apartment complex on Druid Valley Drive.

An unidentified woman was physically assaulted and robbed around 5:30 a.m. after returning home from a night out, Durant said.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING April 16th, 7:30PM

PLEASE JOIN US for our next quarterly General Assembly meeting on Thursday April 16th at 7:30pm at Peachtree Baptist Church on the corner of Briarcliff and LaVista.

A lot has happened recently and we have a lot of things planned for the next few months.

The Dekalb Police Department will be there to give us information about criminal activities in our area and how to prevent crime.

Also, Nicole Marchand, from the Dekalb Solicitor's Office, will be updating us on the criminal justice process and informing us to some Crime Prevention Classes that are upcoming.

Finally, we will be giving an update on our membership drive, the I-85/GA-400 Interchange, and the revamp website.

Crime Alert

An incident of "Sexual Assault"
(area of Briarcliff Rd. & N. Druid Hills Rd.)

On Tuesday afternoon, an incident of Sexual Assault was reported by a single
female in the Marquis @ Briarcliff Apartments around 4 p.m. At this time, the
only available description of the suspect is as follows:

A male subject, wearing dark colored clothing and ski mask

If you were in the mentioned area during this hour and have any available
information pertaining to this incident, please do not hesitate to report it to the
DeKalb County Police Special Victims Unit at (770) 724-7710.not.
Ways to possibly avoid becoming a victim:

· Lock your doors upon entry & exit of your home or vehicle
· Be aware of your surroundings at all times; scan the area for
persons and/or vehicles that appear out of place
· During evening hours park in well lit areas
· Return to your home or vehicle when a suspicious person is seen nearby
· Call 911 if a suspicious person/vehicle are witnessed in the area
Make note of the description of the person's physical and clothing
description and direction of travel
In apartment complexes, alert the security officer and management of
activity as soon as possible
· Carry a personal alarm, cell phone and/or personal safety items
· Program 911 as a speed dial number in your cell-phone to make access
easier in the event of an in-progress emergency
· When possible travel in pairs when exercising, at night or when running
errands (there is safety in numbers)
