January 9th 10am-12pm

I hope everyone had a Happy New Years.  One thing we want to do in 2010 is inform our residents about the neighborhood's School Cluster.  As you may know, Druid Hills High School just underwent major renovations.  They are hosting an open house this Saturday.

Below is an article regarding the improvements.

Druid Hills High School, one of the oldest high schools in DeKalb County recently completed major renovations to its campus.

With renovations almost finalized, administrators at the school are planning an open house on Saturday, Jan. 9 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. to showcase new classrooms and the new sciences building to parents and community members. All are invited to see the enhancements as DHHS will provide guided tours, light refreshments and fun for all ages.

Some improvements were already made to the main building last summer, including renovating the main floor, music area, gym and Media Center.

"We are very excited about the opening of our new sciences building," said Principal Mindee Adamson. "The new building will provide students the opportunity to learn in state-of-the-art science classrooms. There are also three new computer labs providing teachers and students throughout the campus additional computer access."

As DHHS science teachers move into the newly constructed building, renovation will begin on the bottom floor of the main existing building. After completion of the bottom floor, teachers on the top floor will move down to the bottom floor and improvements will begin on the top floor. Renovation of the top floor will complete the redevelopment of the DHHS main building. The entire project is expected to be complete before the beginning of the 2010/2011 school year.
